Great Fosters

Hollowell

Works were negotiated on this site for the demolition of the original cow barns and covered areas and the partial demolition of the existing buildings before a new scheme comprising of five luxury homes was commenced.

Each of the homes created are individual in both style and layout. One mostly consists of the exisiting barn, and was underpinned and restored, another was a completely new home with a 110 square metre basement, cinema and modern internal fit out. The other old barn was also part of the restoration with a whole new storey and extension incorporated and the other two homes were new builds with their own design features.

All have solid oak flooring and under floor heating throughout. The spec was developed with the clients as works progressed and we are rightly proud of the results! This was the first of several projects we carried out for the clients and all other works were carried out by negotiation.

abington grove

This 14 apartment scheme was the last of the apartment schemes we carried out for the same clients, having completed various schemes totalling some 72 individual apartments.
The site was formerly known as ‘West House’ and the original house has been incorporated into the scheme by an intrusive internal demolition phase and the addition of an extra storey. Three apartments now form the old house and the other eleven are part of the new build scheme.
The site is a prominent one in the local area and we used new technology to construct it. Thin joint blockwork was incorporated to allow the internal works to proceed while the brickwork outer skin followed. This allowed a faster programme time and kept disruption to the local residents to a minimum.
The flats were all fitted out to a high grade internal spec ready for a rental portfolio for the clients.
On schemes such as this we were the catalyst for the works by finding the site, putting people in touch with each other and sorting out the deals in return for the build phase. For further information on this, please contact us.

Farndish

We were commissioned to carry out the renovation and conversion of the Grade 2 listed old barn at Farndish by a private client in March 2005. Works were commenced at that time and the family moved in ready for Christmas the same year.
The barn had to be underpinned and the external walls had to be strengthened with the injection of heritage grout to prevent collapse before an internal steel frame was fitted to carry the new mezzanine floors comprising the bedrooms to the new home.
Openings were created in the rear walls for new windows and the property was fitted with under floor heating throughout.
The results have been outstanding and we still carry out works for the same family now, having done works for both parents and siblings of these clients.

Overstone Road

Overstone Road is in the Mounts area of Northampton. This building is a Grade 2 listed former curriers and bed factory which has been converted into 10 luxury apartments. We had to work with the local authority to keep the outstanding features of the building intact whilst upgrading the interiors to modern standards.
We were responsible for the project from procurement of the building from the former owners to completion including obtaining both planning permission and list building consents from the local authority.
We sourced the materials and produced the spec as well as completed the project ready for occupation.
There were several sensitive issues regarding the building due to its original use as a currier’s factory, part of the leather supply chain to the boot and shoe industry. Some of the features, in particular the old louvers where the hides were aired had to be completely restored before they could be insulated from the inside to allow the building to comply with building regulations. The external colours were reproduced to council specification to match the original as well.
We believe this is a good example of a development to modern standards working with the fabric of the original structure, giving the building a new lease of life.
